Turkey Apple Grilled Cheese

November 30, 2017 By Shannah Coe 2 Comments

This post is part of a sponsored week long event called #MerryEats, all opinions and words are 100% mine.

There is nothing like a Turkey Apple Grilled Cheese during the cold, winter months! Between the creamy jarlsberg cheese, savory pesto, crunchy apples, and smoked turkey, this apple grilled cheese is pure comfort food, and is one amazingly delicious turkey sandwich!

Earlier this week, I shared with you an awesome idea for holiday entertaining or even to use as a homemade gift. Several others shared more great recipes and entertaining tips as part of our #MerryEats week too.

But, not all holiday entertaining comes in the form of fancy parties and elaborate food spreads. At our house, we do plenty of low key entertaining where there are a just a few people gathering together for a casual lunch. For those times, this turkey apple grilled cheese is the absolute must make recipe!

Turkey Apple Grilled Cheese

The absolute most important part of a grilled cheese is, of course, the cheese! My favorite cheese for grilled cheese sandwiches is Jarlsberg. Jarlsberg cheese has been one of America’s favorite specialty cheeses for over 60 years – still using the same secret recipe developed in Norway in 1956.

The cheese is incredibly versatile and can be used for all types of foods; from cheese boards to salads to melted on a burger. It has a distinct, sharp, & nutty taste with just the right amount of tang and a smooth, creamy texture. It melts like a total dream making it so ideal for this turkey apple grilled cheese.

Turkey Apple Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Ingredients for Turkey Apple Grilled Cheese:

2 slices of thick sandwich bread
2 Tbsp pesto (I use basil walnut)
2-3 slices of turkey
2-3 Envy apple slices
2-3 slices Jarlsberg cheese
2 Tbsp mayonnaise

Let’s Make It:

1. Lay bread on flat work surface. Spread pesto on inside of one slice of bread. Add one slice of cheese, the turkey, apples, and remaining slice of cheese. Place other slice of bread on top.

2. Spread outside of each side of the sandwich with mayonnaise.

3. Heat skillet to medium heat and add sandwich. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Flip and repeat.

This grilled cheese will be a hit to everyone you serve it too. I mean who doesn’t love melty cheese on bread. When selecting your apples for this grilled cheese, look for Envy apples. They pair amazingly well with the Jarlsberg cheese.
