Move over plain rice krispie treats. These strawberry marshmallow hearts have tons of strawberry flavor, are simple to make and are the perfect easy Valentine’s Day treat to make with (or without) the kids!

Strawberry Marshmallow Heart Treats

Strawberry Marshmallow Heart Treats

Making these delicious treats goes a lot like the process for making your basic rice krispie treat. But, I use strawberry marshmallows, a heart healthy cereal that actually has little hearts in it, and we make them in heart shaped pans. We totally know how to work a theme.

Don’t worry if you don’t have heart shaped pans. You can easily make these in a regular 9×13 pan like you would any other marshmallow treat. Then, if you want to keep the heart shape, just use a heart shaped cookie cutter to cut them out.

Ingredients for Strawberry Marshmallow Heart Treats:

1/4 cup butter
10 oz strawberry marshmallows
4 cups Kashi Heart to Heart cereal {or similar}
Cooking Spray
Optional icing

Let’s Make It:

1. Spray a large bowl with nonstick cooking spray. Spray heart shaped pans {I use these springform pans} or 9×13 casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray. Set both aside.

2. Melt butter over medium heat in a large saucepan. Reduce heat to low and stir in marshmallows. Stir until marshmallows melt and mixture is smooth.

3. In bowl sprayed with nonstick cooking spray, combine cereal and marshmallow mixture. Stir until cereal is coated with marshmallow mixture. Press into prepared pans or casserole dish. Let set for 30 minutes.

4. If desired, ice with icing before serving.

These were a total hit. Just be sure that anything you touch the marshmallow mixture with before it sets is sprayed with nonstick spray because it gets sticky.

I can’t wait until Valentine’s Day. I know everyone is going to love these little hearts. I am happy a found a cereal that offers a little bit of extra nutrition to use in them too. Disclosure: I really picked the cereal because it had heart shapes…the nutrition was a bonus.
