Stenciled Trick or Treat Bag

October 15, 2013 By Shannah Coe 8 Comments

My daughter is totally obsessed with the mustache trend.  Despite throwing a baby shower that featured mustaches, I don’t really get the whole excitement behind the trend.  Yeah, it is funny but mustaches on everything just seems odd.  Oh well, clearly my daughter {and most of the rest of the world} thinks it is cool so what do I know?  When we were working on her trick or treat bag for this year, she spied one of my Martha Steward adhesive stencils in the shape of a mustache.  The rest was history and her stenciled trick or treat bag was born.Stenciled Trick or Treat Bags with Label…

20 DIY Halloween Costumes

October 10, 2013 By Shannah Coe 38 Comments

October has hit. Panic has set in at the Just Us Four house because the kids don’t have Halloween costumes picked out yet.  Typically, we have our costumes in hand by early September so we get the pick of what is available.  I am totally blaming PBK for this lapse in Halloween preparation since their catalog is usually what prompts me to order costumes.  This year, I am thinking our late decisions on what to be will leave us with a lot less choices.  So, like any good mom/blogger, I went cruising the interwebs and found 20 DIY Halloween costumes that could serve as back-ups…or first choices if DIY Halloween costumes are your thing!Halloween Costume Collage …

Halloween Recipes: Oreo Candy Corn Bark & Pumpkin Spice Rice Krispies

October 3, 2013 By Shannah Coe 54 Comments

Each year, around mid-October, our neighborhood explodes with Halloween.  Entire blocks transform from regular houses into spooky haunted houses or fun places covered in pumpkins and candy corn.  We like to get a jump on all of this fun by making a few Halloween recipes and then Boo’ing our neighbors.

Halloween Crafts: Candy Corn Pennant Banner

October 1, 2013 By Shannah Coe 11 Comments

Halloween is one of those holidays where decorating can go in two very different directions.  Some people focus on the spooky and scary {think lots of skeletons and black} while others go more for the fun, non-scary stuff {candy corn and pumpkins}.  We have two young kids so you can guess which way we tend to lean.  This year, H is getting to the age where she likes to really be involved in just about everything that I am doing.  So, we decided to focus some of our Halloween crafts on things she could easily help with like this candy corn pennant banner.Candy Corn Pennant banner with Treats_wm

Spooky Eyeball Wreath

September 30, 2013 By Shannah Coe 33 Comments

I was never really into Halloween decorating until I moved into our current neighborhood.  In our townhouse,  we always put out pumpkins and passed out candy to any trick or treaters that came by.  When we moved into our current house, all that just seemed to be way too low key considering all the decorating that was going on around us.  So, slowly, we’ve been accumulating decorations at the after holiday sales to add to our collection.  Of course, it helps if you can make some of your decorations too so I created this spooky eyeball wreath this year.Spooky Eyeball Wreath with Label

Chalkboard Paint Pumpkins

September 17, 2013 By Shannah Coe 50 Comments

Artificial pumpkins are one of those craft items that you can do so many things with…carve, cover, paint, etc. The list really does go and on. Last year, I used some washi tape to decorate one for part of my Halloween decorations. This year, I decided to create some chalkboard paint pumpkins so my kids could decorate them over and over again between now and Halloween.Chalkboard Pumpkins on Steps with label_wm

Halloween Tulle Wreath

October 16, 2012 By Shannah 25 Comments

Before I got sick, I had started working a Halloween tulle wreath for this year. It was stopped suddenly thanks to my pneumonia but I managed to finish it up over the weekend while I lounged on the couch recuperating.

I started with a straw wreath form that I wrapped in black duct tape.

Then, I cut black and orange tulle into strips.
