As you prep for the upcoming holiday season, donโ€™t forget to include a holiday sangria on your menu. This homemade sangria is the absolute best sangria recipe I have ever tried (and believe meโ€ฆIโ€™ve tried a bunch).

A white sangria recipe is so perfect for the holidays because it is always a crowd pleaser. Call this homemade sangria your Thanksgiving sangria, Christmas sangria or just overall holiday sangria. No matter what you name it, you will call it your favorite for sure.

As I was preparing for the upcoming holiday season, I headed over to BJ’s Wholesale Club to pick up some essentials. The fresh fruits and vegetables are plentiful right now and perfect for all your holiday recipe needs. I like to buy in bulk so I can make multiple batches of this delicious winter sangria.

What is sangria?

Sangria is typically a mix of red wine, lemonade, fruit and spices. It originated in Spain but has taken on so many different variations over the years.
White wine sangria recipes feature white wine flavored with delicious fall and winter flavors like apples, cranberries and cider.

Key Ingredients to Make Holiday Sangria

  • White Wine (pick something on the drier side)
  • Apple Cider (the spiced version from Trader Joes is a favorite)
  • Fresh cranberries
  • Apples
  • Prosecco or similar sparkling wine

I use a dry white wine like Sauvignon Blanc for this homemade sangria. You can choose your favorite white wine but keep in mind that, if you choose a sweeter wine, the overall cocktail is going to be sweeter too.

To make this the best sangria recipe, we added bubbles! Top off the sangria with prosecco or a sparkling wine for the perfect touch of fun for the holidays. (Note: if you use a sweeter wine, I recommend going with a dry sparkling wine to offset the sugar.)
