Citrus Vanilla Breakfast Smoothie

This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Nestle, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia  #BreakfastEssentials http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

All through the winter, I had oatmeal for breakfast almost every morning.  It was just what I needed on a cold day after a long commute to work.  Plus, the cafe in our building sold it so I didn’t actually do any work to get my breakfast.  As you can imagine, that adds up fast though.  Now that the weather is getting warmer, I have been looking for a replacement that I could easily make at home in the 5 spare minutes I have each morning.  Carnation Breakfast Essentials offers a few delicious flavors and are the perfect smoothie starters so I decided give one a try in my citrus vanilla breakfast smoothie.

Citrus Vanilla Breakfast Smoothier - a perfect, quick breakfast #BreakfastEssentials #pmedia #ad

I love smoothies anytime of day but they are perfect for breakfast on really busy mornings.  There are no pots, pans or bowls to clean…just the blender pitcher which goes right into the dishwasher.  The Carnation Breakfast essentials make smoothies even better because they really up the nutritional value by adding 13g of protein and as much calcium as a 6oz cup of yogurt (get complete nutritional information here).  The delicious flavors make it perfect for the adults and kids in our family {my daughter loves the chocolate with strawberries!}.

I was at Safeway recently and noticed that the Carnation Breakfast Essentials came in a variety pack which was perfect for us.  This way, I could get the vanilla to make my citrus vanilla breakfast smoothie and I could also give the chocolate or strawberry a try too.  You can get them in premixed varieties too but I have zero room in my fridge for anything else so the powder was the best option for me.

Combining the Carnation Breakfast Essentials with fresh, citrus fruits made a quick and easy smoothie that was so refreshing on a warm, spring morning.

This breakfast smoothie has been a huge favorite of mine and definitely the perfect breakfast option on the morning where I am rushing out the door for my commute.  I have also been checking out the Carnation Breakfast Essentials recipe site for more ideas on ways to start my morning off with a delicious, nutritious smoothie.

What is your favorite thing to have for breakfast?  Do you change up your eating habits based on the changing seasons?
