Brushing to the Music

August 21, 2014 By Shannah Coe 11 Comments

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf Tooth Tunes.

We love music in our house. If the iPad isn’t playing on our playlists, H is usually singing a random song she has made up in her head. Even E loves to play with all kinds of musical toys or dance around the family room when music is playing. We use music to get them interested in activities all the times because it seems to work so well. That is the idea behind one of my favorite new things in our house: Tooth Tunes.

{Guest Post} Edible Cookie Dough Recipe

September 19, 2013 By Shannah Coe 6 Comments

Guest posts didn’t stop just because the calendar flipped from August to September.  Today, Susan from The Royal Cook, is here to share  her edible cookie dough recipe.

**************************************************************************

Hello Just Us Four readers!  I’m Susan from The Royal Cook and am thrilled to be guest posting here today!   I am a mommy to 5 (yes 5!!) and in my spare time (ha ha!) I blog about what comes out of my kitchen.

My kids, especially my girls, can’t seem to get enough edible cookie dough.  I make it for them at least once a week, if not once a day!  For those of you who are not huge chocolate fans (is there really such a thing?!?), so aren’t really into my Edible Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, try out this Edible Sugar Cookie Dough.  And even if you are a huge chocolate fan, still try it out.  It’s delicious!  My 12 year old and her bestie have decided they like it even better than Edible Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.  That’s pretty big.  Especially if you’ve ever seen the way they devour the stuff!

I’m pretty sure sprinkles make everything taste better. 🙂

1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
1 tablespoon milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1/8 teaspoon orange extract
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon baking powder

Combine sugar, butter, vanilla, orange extract and milk.  Mix well.  Add flour, baking soda and baking powder and mix until combined.

Recipe from The Royal Cook – an original!

You can find me on Facebook and Pinterest.  I’d love to have you follow along!

Food for July 4th: Red, White and Blue Firecrackers

June 10, 2013 By Shannah 66 Comments

Food for July 4th parties can be so fun to make! Get the kids involved and make these Red, White and Blue Firecrackers using only marshmallows and candy! These Red, White and Blue chocolate dipped marshmallow pops are so festive and fun to make, everyone will have a blast!

I love entertaining!  Holidays for me mean a time to get family and friends together and share a meal.  Of course, for most holidays, I like to coordinate the food with the occasion.  When thinking about food for July 4th, I wanted something fun that the kids could also help with.

Gift Ideas for the Littles

December 19, 2012 By Shannah Leave a Comment

I’m sure all you prepared parents have your gifts purchased, wrapped and under the tree.  So, this post isn’t for you.  It is for the parents {like me} who are still out walking the aisles and clicking on the web looking for great gifts for their kids.

Or maybe the aunt or uncle who just has no clue what to get…or the grandparent  who isn’t exactly “hip” when it comes to kids’ toys.

I’ll go ahead and caveat this and say, if the kids you are shopping for aren’t {or near} 5 and 2, I’m not going to be of much help.  But, if they are, read on for some great gift ideas that are readily available right now!
