Brushing to the Music

We love music in our house. If the iPad isn’t playing on our playlists, H is usually singing a random song she has made up in her head. Even E loves to play with all kinds of musical toys or dance around the family room when music is playing. We use music to get them interested in activities all the times because it seems to work so well. That is the idea behind one of my favorite new things in our house: Tooth Tunes.

Tooth Tunes and Tooth Tunes, Jr. are toothbrushes that appeal to a child’s love of music to get them to brush for the recommended two minutes. We all know that brushing for two minutes is the best way to keep a bright smile and our teeth healthy. But, especially for kids, that two minute mark can be so hard to judge and they often end up stopping way before they hit the time. Arm & Hammer created Tooth Tunes with a one of a kind technology that streams sound vibrations while kids brush so they hear some of their favorite songs like “One Thing” by One Direction or, in the case of Tooth Tunes, Jr. “The Alphabet Song.”

With back to school coming so quickly, we’ve been practicing our morning routine so we will be ready for that first day of school. H’s Girl Scout camp was the perfect trial run for her because she had to get up so early. One morning, I pulled out the Tooth Tunes to let each child give it a try. They loved brushing to the music and I was thrilled that their teeth were getting cleaned so well. The sounds run for a full two minutes so I know they will always hit that recommended time when using the toothbrushes.

You can tell how early it is because it is still so dim even with the windows open!

With smiles like these, I want to make sure we do all we can to their teeth healthy and their smiles bright! A little bit of brushing {and dancing} to some music, in the morning, to help wake them up and get ready for school doesn’t hurt either!
