Are you tired of reading about Snap! Creative Conference yet?  I hope not {fingers crossed} because I am back today to share some of the lessons learned from my visit to the blog conference.  Each session I attended was so full of information but I wanted to share the top 2 tips I got from each one.

Google+

1)  Google+ has hashtags like twitter. Use them!
2)  Google+ allows you to combine your social connections with your search results.  So, when you search within google, it is going to show you results people you have in your Google+ circles higher than random searches.

Pinterest Power:

Source

1)  Use vertical pictures for Pinterest.  They take up more space on the page.
2)  Use Pinterest to promote and influence others and not just to promote your products. Tip: Pin 5 things from someone else before another pin of your own.

Advanced Monetization:

1)  Your side bar = premium space.  If it isn’t making your money {and money is your goal}, then it shouldn’t be there.
2)  Recommended ad size breakdown:
– 728×90 (top and bottom of page)
– 300 x 250 (2 with one above the fold)
– 160 x 600 (2 but not next to each other)

Minwax Brown Bag:

1)  Wood is unpredictable. Always test on unseen places of your project before beginning.
2)  All wood refinishing products rely on evaporation so ideal conditions are temperatures between 60 and 85 degrees and low humidity.

Collaborating with Brands:
1)  Make a list of your dream brands to work with and start working towards ways to partner with them.
2)  Always think when writing sponsored content: “If you take the sponsor out of the sponsored post, would it still be a good post?”

Advanced SEO:

Source

1)  Links for all sponsored posts, or when there is an exchange of value, should be no follow links.  {rel=”nofollow”}
2)  Make sure your tags are relevant to your post and are not repetitive of the categories for your post.

Tools with Ana White:

Source

1)  Five most important tools: Tape Measure, Speed Square, Multi-Mark, Clamps and Safety Gear
2)  Do not use a Jig Saw for square cuts even if it seems easier than another saw.

    1. I learned so much about Google+ that I never knew! It is definitely going to bypass Facebook soon as the social media outlet to be a part of.
