Peanut Butter Buckeye Dip is the perfect combination of creamy peanut butter and rich chocolate. It gives all the flavor of the beloved chocolate buckeye candy without all the work!

What is a Buckeye Candy?
Buckeye candy, or chocolate buckeyes, are a peanut butter candy that is partially dipped in chocolate leaving a small circle of peanut butter uncovered in the center. The candy is named for the poisonous nut of the Ohio buckeye tree and first became popular in Ohio and neighboring states.
This sweet cream cheese dip gives all the flavor of the buckeye candy but in an easy to make dessert dip instead. The combination of peanut butter and chocolate is perfect and you can find all kinds of things to dip in it like graham crackers or even pretzels if you want a little saltiness to go along with the sweet.
Key Ingredients for Chocolate Buckeye Dip

- Cream Cheese – Full fat cream cheese works best but you can use a lower fat cream cheese too. Just be sure that you soften the cream cheese before beginning the recipe.
- Peanut Butter – Creamy peanut butter works best in this recipe. I have also made it with sunflower butter too for a nut free option and it was just as delicious.
- Powdered Sugar – This is key to making it the right sweetness and consistency.
- Frozen Whipped Topping – I use the Cool Whip brand for this but a store brand one would be fine too.
- Chocolate Chips – This recipe uses a mix of mini chocolate chips and regular dark chocolate chips. You can choose your favorite and substitute with milk or semi-sweet chips.
