Kid Friendly Halloween Party Food – A Ghost and Ghouls Gathering

October 15, 2013 By Shannah Coe 13 Comments

Halloween parties are so much fun!  We host a pre-trick or treating party every year to get the kids together for dinner before heading out to get some candy.  We’ve been doing it every year and I love the tradition.  This year, I’m also part of a virtual Halloween party: A Ghost and Ghouls Gathering and I am sharing some kid friendly Halloween party food!

Ghosts and Ghouls Gathering at The Everyday Home

As a working mom, Halloween can be pretty tricky because I have to get home early, feed a crowd and get everyone dressed in time for trick or treating.  I’ve always been blessed to be able to get off of work early but I also learned  a few tricks along the way to make things easier.  One of of my favorite foods to serve to kids for a Halloween party is pumpkin quesadillas.  All you need are three ingredients: tortillas, shredded cheese and scissors or a knife.

Simply cut one tortilla into the face of a jack-o-lantern using the knife or scissors.Jack o Lantern Face_wm

Then, cover the other tortilla with shredded cheese.Shredded Cheese on Tortilla_wm

Top with the jack-o-latern face and heat.  I put several onto baking sheets and bake in the oven so they get done super fast.Quesadillas with Label_wm

Another item that is always a hit is the decorate a sandwich bar.  I put out things like turkey, cheese and bread along with toppings that the kids can use to decorate the outside to look like faces.  For this one, I used slices of celery for the eyes, cheese for the nose and a carrot stick for the mouth.Happy Face Sandwich_wm

Thanks! Our kids have a great time with them too. Sometimes I will even do the face on the sandwich when I pack their lunches when it gets close to Halloween.

OMG! I love the tortilla faces!!!! How do I never think of these things on my own?! Funny enough, I am actually making my kids Quesadillas for supper tonight so I am totally going to cut out faces in the tortillas for them now!

Isn’t it funny the things that you see and think “why didn’t I think of that?”…that happens to be all the time. Hope the kids like the face on their quesadilla.

Can’t wait to make these for Grandson. He’s 6, so he’s too “big” for a lotta stuff now (ha!) but he’ll love these. Great partying with you today!
