Keeping Smiles Bright

I had some crazy teeth as a child. Extra teeth, gaps and just a whole lot of crazy stuff going on in my mouth. {Don’t worry…I’ll save you from the horror and NOT share any of those photos.} Despite all the craziness and constant trips to the dentist and orthodontist, my mom was adamant that I would not get cavities and would brush what felt like a gazillion times a day.
Now, that I have kids of my own, I totally get why my mom focused so much on keeping my mouth spit spot as Mary Poppins would say. Seeing my kids smile is one of the ultimate rewards of parenting and I want to do everything I can to help them keep that smile healthy.

My two kids are at totally different stages with regards to their teeth. One, has almost all of her baby teeth in and we are waiting for our first tooth fairy visit. We are working with the younger one to help teach him the importance of brushing and how to brush on his own. Even though I worry about them all.the.time, I never have to really worry about their teeth because I know that Orajel Kids has just about any product I need to help keep those little mouths healthy.

With H, we struggle a little more to get her to brush for the recommended time. It helps that she likes the flavor of the Orajel Kids toothpaste though. We also keep a little 2 minute sand timer in the bathroom that she can use to time herself.

E loves having a toothbrush in his mouth so he is a little easier. We, of course, still do a lot of the work to make sure the back teeth are brushed really well. Since he still doesn’t always understand the concept of not swallowing the toothpaste, I am glad we have an option that is effective at cleaning his teeth but still safe for him to use.

Do your kids have an amazing smile that melts your heart? Do you like to take a lot of pictures to capture those smiling milestones? Orajel wants to celebrate those “Smilestones” with you. Share your favorite Smilestone {maybe something like your baby’s first tooth or the first day of school} and you can be entered to win a grand prize trip for a family of four to the destination of your choice. You’ll find all the details on the prize and how to enter on by visiting the Smilestones Sweepstakes on Facebook.

  1. I love orajel for tooth pain. If there other products are as good as the pain reliever count me in!

  2. These 2 have the most beautiful smiles I have ever seen. I know it warms your heart to see their smiling faces every day!

  3. It’s good to see children taking good care of their teeth by learning how to brush early on and practising good oral hygiene. Parents do make a big role in instilling this good practice. It’ll be nice for the kids to grow up with healthy milk teeth so that they won’t have any problems later on when the permanent ones come.
