Fall Felt Leaf Wreath

September is always a funny month here.ย  One dayย {yesterday} it still feels like summer with temperatures above 90 degrees.ย  Then, the next {today}ย the temperature will topย out in theย 70s.ย  It is really hard to feel like decorating for one season or another because you are constantly being thrown between twoย seasons.ย  I didn’t let the hot weather stop me though from starting on my fall decorating.ย  I used theย heat as a reason to stay inside and test out my new hot glue gun instead creating my fall felt leaf wreath.Fall felt leaf wreath with labelLast year, I admired so many feltย leaf wreathesย so Iย knew I wanted to make a wreath that included some leaves this year.ย  I didn’t have the time or patience to cover my entire wreath though {maybe next year…}.ย  I start out byย tracing my leaves onto the piecesย of felt.ย  Then, I cut out the leaves in sets of three.felt leaves_wmAfter wrapping my wreath form in tan satin ribbon, I added the floral piece.ย  It is actually a floral candle ring that I cut and squished together to make work for my wreath.felt leaf wreath ring_wmI started laying out the leaves only to discover that the tan ribbon just needed something extra.ย  Mathlete didn’t even realize I had covered the wreath form and just thought the ribbon was how the base looked.ย  So, before I got too far into the leaf gluing process, I added a little bit of glittery leaf ribbon around the wreath form.
For each set of leaves, I glued the three together and then layered them under the previous set that I had attached to the wreath.felt leaf wreath layers_wmYou can choose to go up as little or as far as you want to along the wreath form.ย  I stopped about equal to where the flowers ended on the opposite side.felt leaves up close_wmfelt leaf wreath flower_wmfall felt leaf wreath_wmNow, this felt leaf wreath waits for a day where the temperature isn’t described with words like scorching and muggy.ย  Those days are coming and I can’t wait!

What kind of fall decorating have you been working on?ย  Do you wait until the temperature changes or just put it out there even in hot weather?
