#ad Eat More Chicken & Help Your School #Clip4School

August 26, 2013 By Shannah Coe 2 Comments

I am a member of the Collective Bias® Social Fabric® Community. This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Collective Bias and their client. The thoughts, opinions and desire to eat more chicken are all 100% my own.

School starts for us next week and we are so excited {well, mostly excited and maybe a little stressed over how hectic our schedules are about to become}.  Even though school hasn’t even officially started, we’ve already been getting emails about different fundraising events happening to raise money for our school.   Sadly, school budgets are just as tight as ever and schools are trying to do what they can to still provide a quality education for our kids.  I want my kids and all of the others at her school to get the best quality education, with access to state of the art technology and fun outdoor things like a track {the school’s current project}, so I try to help in any way I possible can.

I recently stumbled upon a way I can help just by doing something I normally do…a lot: eating chicken.  Yep, through the Tyson’s Back to School Project A+ program, I can earn money for our school simply by cooking dinner.  Each label is worth $.24 which is awesome and higher than a lot of other programs schools typically participate in!
To help you think of new ways to eat more chicken {and get more money for your school}, I’m sharing a quick, kid-friendly recipe for chicken and black bean quesadillas.  You can also check out ideas on Tyson’s Pinterest boards.

Finished Quesadilla on Plate with label

What You’ll Need:
– 1 package of Tyson Grilled and Ready chicken strips or chicken chunks
– 1 package of quesadilla cheese {Mexican blend works well too}
– 1 cup of black beans, rinsed and drained
– 4 medium sized tortillas
Optional Topping:
– 1/4 cup corn
– 1/4 cup black beans, rinsed and drained
– 2 Tbsp lime juice
– 3 Tbsp diced tomatoes
– 3 Tbsp diced red onion

Let’s Make It:
1)  In a large nonstick skillet, heat one tortilla over medium heat.  Top with about 1/3 cup of quesadilla cheese.  Add chicken and black beans and top with an additional 1/3 cup of cheese.

Add a second tortilla on top of the cheese.  Cook for 2-3 minutes and then flip over to cook for an additional two minutes or until the cheese is fully melted.  Repeat for second quesadilla.

2)  In a small bowl, combine the corn, black beans, diced tomatoes, red onion and lime juice. Stir well to combine.  Top quesadillas with black bean mixture and serve to your hungry kids.

Once dinner is done and it is time to clean up, don’t just throw the chicken package away {or back in the freezer}.  You’ve got a little bit of work to do.  I promise it is quick and easy but can make a HUGE impact in the lives of your children and those at his/her school.  Visit the Tyson Project A+ website and check to see if your school is enrolled.  Mine wasn’t so I needed to enroll but Tyson made it so simple with their website.  Simply click “Enroll” and fill out the necessary information.   You can see step by step instructions for searching for your school and/or enrolling by visiting my Google+ album.

Once you are registered, you can take advantage of all the resources Tyson provides to help you be successful like the clip art to create collection boxes and a sample letter to send to parents to help get everyone involved.  I drafted up a letter for our school and will be working with room moms to get them into our weekly folders!  Each time a school collects 100 labels, the coordinator simply sends them into Tyson and the school gets sent a check.

I am so excited to help raise money, through the Tyson Project A+ program, for my child’s school to buy things like
•Art Supplies
•Athletic Equipment
•Band Instruments
•School Trips
•School Performances
•Clubs & Activities
•Special Events

How could your school use extra money from a program like this?

Keep in touch with Tyson on Facebook and Twitter so you can find more ways to earn money for your local school.
