{Late} Spring / {Early} Summer Burlap Wreath

May 21, 2013 By Shannah 38 Comments

A few weeks ago, I made a spring ribbon wreath and proudly hung it on our front door.  Then, Mathlete came home and asked me why I had a Christmas wreath on our door.  Insert sigh followed by immediate crafting of new wreath which I will call my late spring/early summer wreath

This time, I started with one of those flat wreath forms (hello $3.99!).  I had originally planned to paint it and make a wreath until I noticed there were holes at intervals all the way around the wreath.  Oh well…there is always burlap!  It is the perfect transition from spring to summer in my mind.

I made ruffles of burlap all the around the wreath form and secured them with a little hot glue.  Then, I glued on some flowers I had hanging around the house.

When I asked Mathlete what he thought of my new wreath, he said “we couldn’t afford real fabric?”  Lesson learned: just ignore his opinion on wreaths 🙂

Have you made any new wreaths lately?  Maybe a burlap wreath for your door?

You can find a list of the awesome parties I link up to by visiting here.

Love the simplicity of it. I have some burlap and a foam wreath. I need to find time to do something like this.

Loving your wreath, the burlap looks great with the flowers. Love the loops look.
I got a smaller wire wreath form recently at thrift store for 25cents. Think it’s calling to be made, I have some chevron striped burlap ribbon (gotten for 1/2 off at HL) so think that’s what it will be made with, thanks so much for the inspiration. Hope mine turns out half as great as your wreath. Love your blog, found you thru 52 mantels summer ideas.
