Cinco de Mayo Drink Recipes: Passion Fruit Margarita

May 2, 2013 By Shannah 22 Comments

Today, we are going to round out your Cinco de Mayo celebration meal.  Cinco de Mayo drink recipes are so easy to come by {think margaritas, mojitos and beer} but this one offers something a little different from the regular old margarita.

How about a delicious combination of passion fruit juice, agave syrup and a little spice from jalapeno infused tequila?

What You’ll Need:
– 2 ounces passion fruit juice
{if you can’t find just passion fruit juice, Welch’s makes a blend that is frozen and works in a pinch}
– 1 ounce jalapeno infused tequila
– 1 1/2 ounces lime juice
– 1 1/2 ounces agave syrup
– salt or sugar for rim {optional…I use a sugar, salt chili powder mixture from Williams-Sonoma}
– 1 sprig of rosemary for garnish

Let’s Make It:
1)  Combine the passion fruit juice, tequila, lime juice and agave syrup in a cocktail shaker with ice.  Shake to combine and chill.

2)  Wipe the rim of a cocktail or margarita glass with lime juice.  Dip in sugar or salt mixture.  Fill the glass with ice.

3)  Pour shaken margarita into prepared glass. Enjoy 🙂

Looking for something to enjoy your cocktail with?  How about a cilantro turkey burger with tomatillo dressing?  Throw in some chips and salsa, or maybe even a little bacon guacamole, and you’ll have the ultimate celebration meal for Cinco de Mayo!

You can find a list of the awesome parties I link up to by visiting here.

    That sounds delicious! Thanks for the recipe. When I was in Puerto Rico recently, my favorite drink was a Passion Fruit Mojito. I haven’t quite been able to duplicate it. If you know how please let me know! Cheers!

      Hmmm…that sounds interesting! I’ve never made a mojito at home {yet} but this sounds like a fun challenge.
