Best Ways to Survive Winter

November 24, 2015 By Shannah Coe Leave a Comment

I am thrilled to partner with DASANI to help you stay hydrated during the cold winter months. While this post is sponsored, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This weekend we had out first taste of the super cold winter weather. With brisk winds and temperatures below freezing, I was quickly reminded that the cold weather is just beginning and soon we will most likely see snow. In fact, some places are already getting LOTS of snow. Winter is pretty harsh weatherwise but it is also tough on our bodies and so I wanted to share some of the best ways to survive winter with you while it is still early in the season.

Best Ways to Survive Winter

One of the ways winter is harshest for us is our skin. I know mine starts getting itchy and dry the moment I turn the heat on in the house. It can be really uncomfortable. I always ensure I use really good moisturizers for my body, lips and face during winter to keep my skin hydrated and avoid that really dry, itchy redness.

The foods we eat make a HUGE difference in how our bodies handle the cold and all the germs that go around during winter. Make sure you up your fruits and vegetables to keep your body properly nourished. Not only does it help your skin but it will also help keep your immune system boosted to hopefully avoid all the nasty colds and other illnesses.

In addition to getting enough good foods, we really need to make sure we drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Most heating systems in buildings and homes create super dry environments which easily cause dehydration. That creates lots of problems like fatigue, headaches and even illness. I have the most difficult time drinking enough water so I use DASANI drops (zero calories!) in mine a lot to give it a flavor boost making it much easier to drink my recommended amount each day. I keep one of the little bottles in my purse all the time to easily add flavor to my bottles of water.

Consider getting a small humidifier for your bedside table. I find that mine makes such a big difference in how I feel in the morning. The heat runs most at night creating a dry atmosphere and the humidifier adds the perfect amount of moisture back into the air for me.

Lastly, get plenty of rest. I know that is way easier said than done but getting the right amount of rest really does make a major difference in how we deal with cold temperatures, the increased germs in the winter and hectic holiday schedule.

What are some ways your survive during the winter? Have you ever tried the DASANI drops in your drinks? {Tip: they are great in cocktails too! Check their Instagram for ideas.}
