The Dirty Side of Food Blogging {Sponsored}

June 23, 2013 By Shannah 1 Comment

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Cascade. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

A lot of cooking gets done in our house.  Some of it is for recipes to share here on the blog and some of it is just to cook for my family.  Those two of course overlap some but the one thing they always have in common: dirty dishes!

You see, on the blog, you always see the prep shots along with some beautiful shots of the final meal.

What you don’t see…the aftermath.  The dirty side of food blogging…
On a given day, when I am cooking for the blog,  I will prepare and photograph anywhere from 3-7 different dishes.  That doesn’t leave a lot of time in between to wash those dishes before it is time to wrap it up and go get my kids from day care.  Even rinsing dishes takes up valuable time that could be used getting one more shot or making one more dish to share.

Recently,  I was contacted by Cascade to try out their Platinum dish washing tabs with the power of Dawn dish washing liquid built in.  Their claim:
So, I decided to put these little dish washing packs to a real test.  The dishes resulting from my recent day of cooking.  One of the dirtiest meals I made was a lasagna with cheese sauce.  Not only does it produce a lot of dishes but it produces some really difficult to clean dishes.
I put all of my dirty dishes into the dishwasher and set it up to wash.  Knowing my load was mostly pots and pans, I chose the pot and pan cycle on my dishwasher and put in my Cascade Platinum pack.

What did I get?
Yep, a clean pan…no pre-rinsing, scrubbing or extra cleaning on my part at all.

Cascade has partnered with Gail Simmons, Top Chef judge and editor of Food+Wine magazine, to spread the word about how important presentation is in the world of food.  Sparkling dishes, shining flat ware and spot-free glasses truly let you put your best food forward with culinary creations that pop!   Using the Cascade Platinum is a great way to ensure you get those sparkling clean dishes.

In addition to partnering with Gail Simmons, Cascade is also running an Instagram contest with a chance to win a Whirlpool dishwasher or, the grand prize, a Platinum Kitchen makeover.  To enter, visit the contest landing page and follow the instructions on how to submit photos of your sparkling dishes based on a weekly theme.  When sharing your photos, be sure to #MyPlatinum hashtag and tag @MyCascade.
This week’s theme:  Platinum Table (show off your sparkling tablescapes for your most special celebrations).  The contest ends on 6/30 so be sure to go enter now.

You can find more information on the partnership with Gail Simmons and the Instagram contest by visiting the Cascade Facebook page.

How do you keep up with the dish load in your house?  Do you have a preferred brand of dishwashing pack?

    No doubt, food bloggers are doing really hard work.
