Key Lime Pear Cocktail

July 31, 2014 By Shannah Coe 1 Comment

You already know wine slushies are popular around our house. For time to time, I like to step outside of the wine game though and enjoy a nice cocktail or, if it is a weekday, a mocktail! When we were in Miami, I tried some of the Cascade Ice Sparkling Waters and was instantly in love. I don’t do the plain water thing so well and need flavors in it for me to actually drink it on a regular basis. The key lime pear version was one of my favorites and I’ve been using it in a key lime pear cocktail ever since.

A refreshing key lime cocktail with a hint of pear and ginger.

Moscato Wine Slushie

July 30, 2014 By Shannah Coe 3 Comments

Keeping cool during the summer and still enjoying your favorite wine doesn’t have to be hard. Try this Moscato Wine Slushie for the perfect summer drink!

A few weeks ago, I introduced you to one of my favorite summer drinks: the red wine slushie. A lot of my friends are just not red wine drinkers even if you turn it into an adult type Slurpee. So, of course, I had to come up with a white wine slushie for them to drink. I played around with a few different types of wine but the Moscato Wine Slushie seemed to the most popular.

21 Recipes with Basil

July 23, 2014 By Shannah Coe 4 Comments

I have the world’s worst black thumb. Until recently, the only plant I have been able to keep alive is a Christmas cactus that I was given as a gift when my grandfather died years ago.  That changed recently when I purchased a hydroponic basil plant because they were out of regular basil. On a whim, I decided to plant it and it has been flourishing ever since. The more it grows, the more I realize that I need to find ways to use it and I collected 21 recipes with basil.

These are the perfect way to use all the extra basil in your house.

{Guest Post} Passionfruit Sorbet Frozen Custard

August 21, 2013 By Shannah Coe 2 Comments

Sorbet is one of those things that I love so much but never think to make on my own. Today, Sara is going to share a recipe for Passionfruit {yum} Sorbet Frozen Custard that I am desperate to try at home!
********************************************************

Howdy! I’m so grateful to Shannah at Just us Four for allowing me to guest post! Some of you may already know me, but in case you don’t, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Sara, but I also go by the name of “Mrs Major Hoff”. I am a mama of 4 wonderful boys, the wife of a retired Army Officer, a lover of all things cute and crafty, and an attempter of DIY projects around the home. I started blogging in 2007 on our private family blog, and last year created my current blog: Major Hoff Takes A Wife. This blog features all the fun stuff I have going on while trying to maintain my sanity as I train 4 little boys to grow into respectable men (note, this is sometimes a losing battle!). If you want to follow my “behind the scenes” action the best place would be on instagram (where you can see lots of pics of my little stinkers), on twitter or Facebook (where you can judge how my sanity is holding up that day). I’d love to add you to my circle of friends!

Here is a picture of my wonderful little men, and the big man in my life that we took recently on a trip to Alaska.

The Perfect Summer Side Dish: Zucchini Carpaccio

July 10, 2013 By Shannah 12 Comments

Summertime meals call for fresh flavors and lots of produce.  At our recent parent’s day out, one of the couples brought a dish I fell in love with and had to figure out to make once I got home.  For me, the combination of flavors made it the absolute perfect summer side dish.  I hit up the farmer’s market to make sure I got the freshest produce I could find.

Carpaccio is typically a dish that consists of raw meat that is sliced or pounded thin and served as an appetizer.  I took a little different approach though and sliced zucchini extremely thin to make my carpaccio.  I did keep the traditional flavors of lemon juice, olive oil and pepper though.
