Spring Decorating Ideas: Burlap Wrapped Vases with Pom Pom Flowers

April 29, 2013 By Shannah 17 Comments

Spring is finally here and we are starting to get some warmer temperatures.  Of course, that means I want to start adding more and more spring decor into the house.   When I started thinking about possible spring decorating ideas, I first thought of this really simple craft that can easily be reused.

This little project takes about 10 minutes to complete but is so adorable.  There are so many options too: Make several and put them together for added impact.  Or, you could easily change the sizes of each vase and the colors of the burlap and twine too.

I started with a simple glass vase and wrapped it with some turquoise colored burlap I had found at the craft store.  I secured it on the back side of the vase with a little hot glue.

Then, I tied green twine around the center for a little bit of extra color.

Using my Pom Pom Maker, I made two little pom pom flowers with some white yarn.  I know there are other ways to make the little pom poms but I love my little maker.  You simply wrap the pieces with ribbon, cut the yarn and then tie the middle tightly.  H even loves to make them using the smaller pom pom maker.

Once the pom poms were done, I simply stuck some floral wire straight through the middle to make them into flowers.  I added the flowers to my little burlap covered vase.
Have you added any spring decor to your home recently?  How do you make pom pom flowers?

I haven’t actually started to do any spring decorating yet. I guess I should get started…summer will be here before I know it. I love the color of that burlap with the green string and the white pom pom flower. Very cute accent for your table!!!
