Guest Room Upgrades: Candy for Dad

April 29, 2013 By Shannah 5 Comments

One of our recent projects has been making our extra bedrooms into a true guest rooms: places where guests can rest comfortably and really feel at home when visiting.  Along with changing the bedding, making headboards and adding in art and extra furniture, I wanted to make it easy for guests to find things they might be looking for {i.e. items they might have forgotten}.

It started with a little basket of items that guest might have forgotten similar to the way hotels put out small toiletries.

Then, I started thinking about little extras that might nice for guests to find.  I added a water carafe and glass along with an alarm clock.  My mom is a HUGE sweets fan though so I wanted to add some small snacks too.  Knowing my dad would typically be traveling with her, though, I wanted to ensure the candy was diabetic friendly so he could enjoy a sweet treat too.
That’s when I discovered Werther”s Sugar Free candies.

The candies come in a bunch of yummy flavors beyond the traditional caramel and I bet my dad is going to like the caramel apple.  Plus, they are perfect for diabetics because they are low in sugar and carbohydrates.  I liked Werther’s Sugar Free on Facebook because it is a great way to keep up with when new flavors are released or when the brand offers coupons.

I added the candies to the little glass jar and then covered it in burlap and ribbon to match the decor of the guest room.  Then, I added it to the little dresser in the guest room next to my basket of toiletries.

Now, my guest room is ready for its most frequent visitors: mom and dad!  Hope they like the addition of the little candies!

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective, and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

These are great for my father-in-law who LOVES sweets but is diabetic. If they are even close to being as delicious as the regular kind, then they’ll be A-okay with him!

You know…I couldn’t even tell the difference between the regular ones and the sugar free ones when it came to taste! Definitely pick some up and try them. The coffee flavor is my absolute favorite!
