Six After School Snack Ideas

By the time my kids get home from school, they are usually starving and immediately start asking for snacks. I try to make sure I have a variety of snacks around the house and always choose things that are pretty easy to take on the go too in case we have to head out immediately for gymnastics practice or some other event. In case you are coming up short on snack ideas as we head into the beginning of the school year, I thought I would share six after school snack ideas that are always at the top of my list.

Six After School Snack Ideas

My kids love all of these snacks and I try to rotate through them so they don’t always the same thing over and over again.

Sriracha Ranch Chex Mix

I know it sounds crazy but this Sriracha Ranch Chex Mix is a totally favorite of my youngest. He loves spicy foods so this is perfect.

There are weeks where I just don’t have time to make my own snacks. That is when ZonePerfect Perfectly Simple nutrition bars come in handy. The kids love the flavors like Oatmeal Chocolate Chunk and Bing Cherry and Almond. {Hint: Get a $1.00 coupon here}

Easy Ranch Snack Mix

Ranch snack mix is another household favorite. It combines a few favorite snack foods with the delicious taste of ranch dressing. Yum!

Homemade cheese crackers are something I always keep in our pantry. The kids {and adults} love them and I love how easy they are to make too.

Dark Chocolate Frozen Yogurt Bites

Dark chocolate frozen yogurt bites (and their strawberry cousin) don’t travel as well as the other snacks but they are always a hit.

Paleo Pumpkin Granola

The great thing about pumpkin granola is that it works well either on its own or with milk like cereal.

What are your favorite snacks to give to the kids after school? Do you keep things like nutrition bars in your car or bag for those on the go snack needs?
