Make It Your Own Pizza Night

June 10, 2014 By Shannah Coe 18 Comments

Collective Bias Disclosure

Weeknights are pretty busy for us in general but now that summer has hit, we seem to squeeze in even more.  School ends this week and we’ve been in a summer state of mind since at least mid-May.  Now, the kids hit the pool most afternoons and stroll in right as the dinner “bell” sounds.  Of course, I’ve spent the day working and commuting home in the heat so I’m not too interested in standing in a front  of a hot stove.  So, I turn to options like DIGIORNO® oven ready pizzas.

Pizza can be a tricky subject around here though because everyone likes something different on their pizza.  We usually just make cheese pizza and everyone settles for that.  But, I was strolling around Walmart the other day and noticed that DIGIORNO® has a Design A Pizza™ Kit which is the perfect solution. I picked up the pizza kit and a DIGIORNO® rising crust pizza in cheese and knew dinner would be easy that night.

I am also a fan of the pizzeria! from DIGIORNO® because they have a delicious white pizza that is pretty much unmatched when it comes to oven ready pizzas.  This time, I didn’t get it though because I know I would be able to easily share a pizza with Mathlete and not have to be worried about picking off toppings I didn’t like since I got to choose exactly what I wanted. He is the total meat eater and I like mostly vegetables on my pizza.  I split it down the middle letting just a few pieces of sausage slip onto my peppers and onion side.

I love meals like this because I can take care of the next day’s lunches, any leftover dishes and a lot of other things while the pizza cooks.  Plus, they are done in under 30 minutes so I know I can get everyone fed and stay on schedule so we can still enjoy our nightly walk.  I will even admit that many nights I will just serve the pizza on paper plates to limit the number of dishes to clean up.  That way, we get more play time outside!

My husband likes DiGiorno. My oldest does too, he told me to pick one up at the grocery store when he and his wife were visiting for Christmas. 🙂
