{Guest Post} Kitchen Stool Re-Do

August 12, 2013 By Shannah Coe 10 Comments

Do you like upcycling your thrift store finds?  Well, then today’s post is definitely for you as Jess shares an awesome kitchen stool re-do.
***********************************************************************
Hi! I’m Jess and I blog at BrightGreenDoor where I write about everything from recipes, thrifting, crafting, sewing and redoing furniture to life in a boomtown in North Dakota. I am so excited that Shannah invited me to share with you today!

Today I am going to share how I transformed this kitchen stool

Thrifting is pretty much my favorite summer pastime, and when I came across this cute little kitchen stool I knew with a little TLC it would be perfect in my kitchen.

Once I got it home I popped the seat off of it and gave it a really good cleaning with some goo-gone and soapy water. I also took off the little bumpers on the feet. Once it was totally dry I sprayed it with Krylon “Oil Rubbed Bronze” paint and primer in one. The key was to do about 4-5 light and even coats. Then I removed the torn leather from the seat and covered it with this fabric by stapling it to the bottom. Then I re-attached the seat and put on some new feet bumpers and it was ready to go! My 4 year old loves it and thinks it’s awesome to have his own special spot to sit on to “help” me in the kitchen.

I just love how it looks next to my spray painted buffet and with my gallery wall! I bet next time you see a rusty and torn up kitchen stool you’ll think twice about leaving it behind!

Wasn’t that an awesome upcycle? I love how the new stool looks, Jess.  Thanks so much for sharing it with us today.

Thanks so much! I know the fabric would be way too bold in a big area, but the little pop of pattern was just perfect!

Doesn’t it look like she got that stool from a store vs. changing it up herself? Such a fabulous job.
