Guest Blogger: Double Pocket Card Tutorial

December 4, 2013 By Shannah Coe 1 Comment

Hi all! I’m Megan, from over at C’mon Get Crafty! It was so nice of Shannah to have me over in her little corner of the blogosphere today! I’d love to share with you today how to make an EASY PEASY Double Pocket Card, perfect for giving out gift cards and cash! No card-making skills required!

Pocket Card for Gift Card

I promise you, even if you’ve never made any cards or done the barest minimum of scrapbooking, you can make this card. You will need:

Double-sided scrapbook paper

Double-sided tape, or Skor tape

Scissors or paper trimmer

Bone folder or ruler (optional)

Step One

As you can see, I DID need a paper trimmer, as my Christmas paper was 12 x 12. So the first step is to trim it down to 8.5 x 11.

Pocket Card for Gift Card

Fold your paper lengthwise in half. You can use a bone folder or a ruler to make a nice sharp crease.

Step Two

Open the folded paper, and then fold in half width-wise, making another sharp crease.

This is what your paper should look like when you are done.

Step Three

Flip your paper over so that the “inside” of your folds is on the bottom. Take the scissors and cut the left fold of the long side to the center.

Next, fold up the bottom right corner so that it meets the center length-wise fold, about halfway, creating a small triangle. Sharpen the edge crease.

Repeat the fold on the upper left corner, above the cut line.

Step Five

Take the top left corner and fold it across to the right, with the folded corner down.

Take the bottom left corner and fold it under the bottom right corner.

Step Six

Now, take the bottom right corner and fold it up and over the creased edge, forming a long triangle. (In the photo below, the bottom is on the left.)

Take your double sided tape or Skor tape if you have it and lined the long outside edge of the bottom triangle. Peel off the backing so the tape is ready to stick.

Take the bottom triangle and fold it up and over the top portion of the card and smooth it down to make it stick. Can you see the pockets??

Go ahead and add some more double sided tape in the bottom corner as well, just to make it nice and neat.

Step Seven

Now the fun part! You have successfully created your pocket card, so get your decorating on! Use stickers or stamps, anything that meets your fancy!

Slide in your nice little gift card or folded wad of money, and gift away!

As you can see, the possibilities are endless!

I hope you get some great use out of these easy cards – they work perfectly for any gift occasion. I’d love if you’d come by and check out some of my other tutorials as well!

My daughter would love making these with me! I love giving gift cards as gifts for teachers- this will be a great way to make it a little more personal.
