With school getting ready to start, we decided to take the kids for a little mini-vacation last week. We combined visiting my parents, a quick beach trip and a trip to Williamsburg for a little history and waterpark action. While in Williamsburg, we of course talked to the kids about the history and toured Colonial Williamsburg. We also made a stop at the famous {well, famous at least in VA} Cheese Shop for lunch. That stop inspired me to make copycat cheese shop house dressing for everyone to enjoy throughout the school year even when a trip to Williamsburg isn’t practical.

Chicken nuggets are a major staple in our household and my kids love to dunk them in different sauces. Tyson® Chicken Nuggets make the perfect after school snack or quick dinner on our busy weeknights. I feel great about buying them because they are made with white meat chicken and 100% natural ingredients. Plus, with the Tyson Project A+â„¢, I can get money for our local school to buy what it needs too.

Copycat Cheese Shop House Dressing Ingredients:

1 cup mayonnaise
1 Tbsp whole grain mustard
1/2 Tbsp honey
1/2 Tbsp white wine vinegar
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 clove garlic
1 tsp raw sugar
1/2 tsp mustard seeds

Let’s Make It:

1) Combine mayonnaise through sugar in the bowl of a food processor or blender. Pulse for 30 seconds. Scrape the sides of the bowl and turn back on for 1 minute. Stir in mustard seeds. Refrigerate.

The Tyson Project A+â„¢ is simple. Look for the labels on the back of the Tyson® Fun Nuggets, Tyson® Chicken Nuggets and Tyson® Crispy Chicken Strip packages. Clip it out and supply it to your school to earn money for items the school may need. Be sure to visit the Tyson Project A+â„¢ website to nominate your school for $1,000 of extra labels.

I nominated the elementary school in our neighborhood where my kids have attended for the last 3 years. The school is always making great strides in bringing new technology in to help our kids learn and I would love to see them be able to increase the access of that technology beyond the computer lab and into more individual classrooms.

  1. I’m sure this is great but it’s not a copycat recipe. The Cheese Shop always maintained that the house dressing was made with 3 ingredients, all sold in the store (they just wouldn’t tell you what 3). But pick up a jar of the shelf-stable stuff (now that they sell it), and the a quick Google of the ingredient list reveals them:
    – Mayo
    – Whole grain mustard
    – HP Sauce

That’s it. Based on the calories and serving size, I worked it out to be about:
    – 84% mayo
    – 15% HP Sauce
    – 2% Mustard

Mix those proportions up (by weight), and you get the real thing.

    1. Thanks for the note. A copycat recipe usually means that it tastes like the original but doesn’t actually have to be composed of the exact same things as the original. At the time, I didn’t have access to what ingredients were in it so went strictly by taste in putting this together. I am so happy the shelf stable version is now readily available so that anyone who wants to can enjoy the house dressing at home.
