Christmas Burlap Bell Wreath

November 26, 2013 By Shannah Coe 29 Comments

I took my first trip to Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago and I was so excited.  A store finally opened that was within an hour of me so I carved 2 hours out of my schedule to give myself plenty of time to check it all out.  While I was there, I fell in love with a burlap wreath that had bells on it.  I didn’t love the price tag though and was convinced I could make something similar for less.  Luckily, being in Hobby Lobby, it wasn’t difficult to find the supplies for my Christmas Burlap Bell Wreath.Burlap Bell Wreath with Candles_wmI started with a straw wreath form and simply wrapped the tan and red burlap ribbon around it.  Hint: when working with the straw wreath forms, leave the plastic on! It makes the wreath form so much easier to work with and a lot less messy.

I had purchased some coordinating burlap ribbon that was green and red.  I wanted little squares/diamonds in the green color from that ribbon so I just cut out the pattern.squares cut from burlap wreath_wm
A little hot glue was all I needed to secure my little pieces of ribbon around the wreath. Then, I glued my bells on top of each little diamond shape. I love the antique and rustic look of the bells I found. I think they go so well with the burlap.bell on burlap wreath_wmBurlap Bell Wreath Angled View_wmTo hold the wreath and provide a hanger for it, I grabbed some leftover solid red burlap from another project and just looped it through.  Super simple and only about a 15 minute time investment to finish this entire wreath!  Plus, all the supplies were a lot less than the $40 price tag on the one at the store.  I love projects like this one that are simple and don’t break the bank.Burlap Bell Wreath_wmBurlap Bell Wreath with Candles_wmHave you made any wreaths lately?  Are you loving burlap ribbon as much I am right now?  Do you see stuff at the store and go home to try and recreate it to save money?
