Back to School Wreath with Numbers

July 24, 2014 By Shannah Coe 6 Comments

So, each month, a group of blogger friends and I get together to do a themed post. These women are amazingly creative and always knock it out of the park. In honesty, I typically forget about it until the week before or I just plain run out of time. Yep…I’m that person in the group! This month, our theme was numbers. I was stuck for so long because I couldn’t run into the kitchen and turn out something number related with ease. Instead, I did what I normally do when I am stuck…I talked to H and got her involved with the project. The result: this super cute back to school wreath with numbers.

Easy and super cute back to school wreath with glossy numbers! #CreativeBuzz

Now, she calls this a back to school wreath for several reasons and, since she is 6 and knows all the important stuff, we’ll go with it. Here are her reasons:
– It is red and black. For her, this is two fold. Red and black just seem to be back to school colors and her school colors include red and black.
– It has numbers. Duh!
– It has mini-clothespins. Apparently, in her school, they always hang their work up using mini-clothespins so it reminder her of school.

There you have it. The six year old’s guide to making a back to school number wreath.

Since this is supposed to be a blog about creating, I should probably give you info on HOW we created it though. 🙂

Supplies:
– MDF wreath form
– Red grosgrain ribbon
– Hot glue and glue gun
– Numbers of choice {we chose 5, 6, 7…no rhyme or reason}
– Paint for numbers {we used both gloss paint and glitter paint}
– Mini-clothespins

Let’s Make This!
1) Start by securing the ribbon on the back with hot glue. Wrap the ribbon around the wreath until the wreath form is covered. Secure the last part of the ribbon with hot glue.

2) Paint your numbers. I did a coat of black gloss paint and then, after it was dry, we added some glitter paint. Glue them to your wreath with hot glue.

3) Hot glue your mini-clothespins to the wreath.

See, so easy a 6 year old could do it {with supervision so she gets to have fingerprints for the rest of her life instead of having them seared off by the hot glue gun}.

Now, take a look at the numbers projects my crazy talented #CreativeBuzz friends made {probably without their young kids helping}!

    I actually thing it’s pretty cute and I especially love that H helped you out with it. I think it make it more special when they do. I’m always asking my 5 year old what he thinks about a projects. He’s a pretty serious crafter as well. I love that it’s back to school themed as week. Great job!
