Make Your Own Cupcake Sticks

August 28, 2012 By Shannah 9 Comments

I mentioned that I made my own cupcake sticks for E’s party. {technically I made them for H’s party too}. They are the perfect way to take grocery store cupcakes and make them extra special. You can customize them to any color, shape and theme that you want. It makes keeping a kid’s birthday party in budget a lot easier too.

I started off with a design that I wanted which was train themed. For his party, I purchased a digital package that include a design.

They, as almost all are, were 2 inch circles so I got my 2″ punch and punched them all out.

Then, I grabbed red and blue scrapbooking paper and punched circles (2.25″ and 3″)

I layered them and, with a glue stick {overbuying H’s school supplies definitely helped here!}, glued all three pieces together.

From there, I hot glued my stick to the back. I originally started with lollipop sticks but, after one, switched to popsicle sticks instead. I liked the more substantial feel to them.

I just made cupcake toppers for the first time and I never would have thought of using Popsicle sticks. I love how they look.
