Meet Karah from The Space Between

February 8, 2012 By Shannah 4 Comments

Today’s guest post comes from another blogger that I adore: Karah from the space between. Last month, she did an awesome feature called Imagine the Possibilities where she managed to hang a gallery wall with only one screw. Awesome, right? My plan to participate went pretty far (I actually got fabric for my curtains) but then got derailed a little bit by an unplanned hospital visit for my mom.ย  The challenge was still awesome though because I did move forward and start working on my project even if I didn’t finish it by the 1/31 “deadline”.
Thanks for the challenge and a big thanks for being here Karah!

Hello, hello to all of you fine Just Us Four readers!
My name is Karah and I blog at the space between. I e-met Shannah in the beginning of the year when I read her post about the Cayenne Candied Bacon, a perfect Superbowl snack. Seriously?!? Cayenne. Candied. Bacon. YES PLEASE!
And, lucky for me I am a life long fan of these guys and find myself needing a few fun Superbowl snacks. ๐Ÿ™‚

PLEASE NOTE: As a guest poster I have written this post prior to the actual playing of the Superbowl and understand it will not be published until after the big game. So, depending on what happened, let’s all say one big Hooray! for the Pats win. ๐Ÿ™‚

Once we met, Shannah jumped right on board our Imagine the Impossibilities challenge that wrapped up last week with a link party and so many great projects you should definitely check out here.
The idea behind the challenge was to tackle our most daunting tasks. Whatever it was. For some it was sewing, others painting, or even writing.
My impossible was to make a gallery wall using only one screw in the wall. (And not any of the fancy new adhesive strips available in the states.)
And it actually worked!
See, after 8 years of owning and renovating homes in the US, my husband and I find ourselves renting on a Caribbean island.
Woah! Anyone else out there go from owning back to renting? It has been quite the adjustment for this pair of serious DIYers. But, the fact that it is on the island of Curacao eases the pain a bit. ๐Ÿ˜‰
I love the look of a gallery wall. And, truth be told, have a pretty cool landlord and can put as many holes in the wall as I want.
But, this screw was there when we moved in over 2 years ago.
A little too high in the wall to really just hang one thing, but I thought it would be fun to try to use it and make me a gallery wall. Maybe come up with a new idea for all of the renters out there.
By the way, that blondie is Marley. She shows up in many a picture, never too far from the action. And the inspiration for one of the canvases in the gallery wall.
These were made without any vinyl or Cameo or Silhouette machine. And they only cost $2 a piece. The price I paid for these at Goodwill.
For the gallery wall I also turned these Goodwill finds…
into the bottom piece here …
and the picture on the driftwood shelf here.
And didn’t spend more than the $2 for each of the frames, or use any fancy equipment other than a printer and some photo editing. Bonus!
I will be posting tutorials on all of my gallery wall projects in the coming weeks. And, you can take a closer look at the whole wall project here right now. ๐Ÿ™‚
And, if you stop by the space between today you can also check in on a few of the other things I’ve been up to. I was very busy in December making my own driftwood Christmas tree and all handmade ornaments.
Then, I started 2012 with a very fun 12 Days of Kindness project that you can read all about here and here.
And I recently made a pallet into word art here.
Which was quickly followed by the very first Imagine the Impossibilities challenge. I am happy to say that the challenge was a bigger success than we could have ever imagined for a handful of small-ish, new-ish blogs and we will definitely be following it up with more challenges. Ideas are currently being bounced around for what’s to come!
Now, I can’t leave without wishing Shannah a VERY Happy Birthday Week! I hope you are doing only those things you really want, spending the time with those you most enjoy and relishing all that makes you happy. A sincere Thank You! for letting me guest post and share some of my space in this blog-o-sphere with your readers!
I hope to see you all at the space between sometime soon! Karah

Thanks Karah for sharing your amazing projects…and for the birthday wish! So sweet.
I hope you have already clicked some of those links to the fabulous projects Karah has been working on recently.ย  If not, get your mouse moving…there is a ton of great stuff over at the space between.

Or, let’s have one collective sigh of defeat to the G-men again.
