July 4th Ribbon Wreath

June 4, 2013 By Shannah 28 Comments

You know I love  a good wreath.  Wreathes were one of the first crafts I ever made and I still love making them.  From yarn to ribbon to paint, I am always up for making a new wreath.
For July 4th, I decided to start with ribbon for my wreath.

I actually started this wreath with just the solid blue wreath you see at the bottom but then I fell in love with the stars and stripes ribbon.  So, I wrapped the larger portion in that ribbon.   I had found the little sparkly sticks at the craft store and attached them to the bottom of the wreath.
To cover the place where I had attached the different decorations, I attached a wood shim that I painted with chalkboard paint.  I used chalkboard paint so I could change the message anytime I wanted.  For now, it says “freedom” but I can definitely see us changing that message up to include other patriotic ones.

Have you started doing any crafting for July 4th?  I am completely astonished by how fast the summer is already slipping by!  July 4th will definitely be here before we know it!

Thank you so much! I wanted to be able to cover the glue from the other pieces and was so happy I had some chalkboard paint on hand.

THanks! I wanted something that was so blatantly patriotic! The stars and stripes ribbon just caught my eye.

This looks like it could really easily be turned into a table centerpiece too, with one of those big glass vases with a candle in it in the middle. Either way – it’s very festive!
