“I Dig You” Valentines for Kids

January 28, 2013 By Shannah 8 Comments

When I was a kid, exchanging Valentines with my friends was such a highlight of my school day.  H is getting pretty exciting about the party at her class so we decided to start working on the Valentines for her class.

I wanted to do something that could also be used for E’s class to so it couldn’t be too girly.  I decided on little shovel Valentines.
I bought some little white plastic shovels on Ebay.  Then, I picked up some jellybeans (peanut safe!) and lollipop bags.

We used a 2″ punch and punched out a bunch of circles from pink scrapbook paper.  Then, I printed little circles and cut them with a 1.5″ circle.
We then glued the two circles together.
We put jellybeans into the lollipop bags and attached them onto the shovels.  I just used the little silver twist tie that came with the lollipop bags to attach the bag to the shovel.
Then, we used some yarn to attach the little circles to the shovels.
What do you do for your kids Valentines?

Hi! I’m planning on doing this for my son this year! Do you happen to have the document for the valentine that you would be willing to share?

    Thanks!

I actually don’t…sorry. I just created 2 inch squares on a regular sized page (8 1/2 x 11) in Microsoft word. Then, I typed the words in the middle. Once they were printed, I just cut them out with a 2″ punch.
