We love pretzels here so it was a no brainer to work with Simply Homemadeยฎ for this pretzel post. As always, while I may have received compensation for this post, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I don’t remember at what age I started really getting interested in cooking and food. I think it was probably late teens or early twenties. It definitely wasn’t seven. Right now, my daughter is always asking to do things in the kitchen and I love it. It gives her and I a chance to spend some time together {since I am always in the kitchen} and also teaches her some important life skills pretty early on. Recently, we got a chance to make pretzels and we made a variety including cinnamon sugar pretzel bites with a yummy dip.

Now, I know there are a lot of seven year old kids on that super cute chef show that could probably chase circles around me in the kitchen but my seven year old is just starting out so we like to keep things nice and easy. That is where awesome kits like Simply Homemadeยฎ Pretzel Creationsโ„ข really help us. The kit comes with everything you need to make the pretzels and you customize them any way you want.

First, we made sure we had the right tools like a kitchen timer, measuring cup, measuring spoons and chef’s hat because cooking is so much more fun in a chef’s hat…am I right?!

Ingredients for Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel Bites:

1 box Simply Homemadeยฎ Pretzel Creationsโ„ข
3/4 cup warm water {not hot!}
1 Tbsp oil
Cooking spray
6 + 1/4 cups water
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 Tbsp cinnamon

Let’s Make It:

1) In a large bowl, combine the pretzel dough and yeast from the kit. Stir in warm water and oil and mix until well combined. {We used our hands to make it easier}. Cover and let sit in a warm, dry place for 25 minutes.

2) Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with nonstick foil and spray with cooking spray. Set aside.

3) In a large pot, combine 6 cups of water with the baking soda packet. Bring to a boil.

4) Meanwhile, cut your dough into miniature bite sized pieces. Keep the dough you are not working with covered with a towel to prevent it from drying out.

5) Place dough pieces {about 4 at a time works in my pan} in boiling water and boil for 15 seconds. Transfer to prepared baking sheet. Repeat until all bites have been boiled.

6) Place baking sheet in preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Let cool enough to handle.

7) In a small bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon. Stir well. Brush cooled pretzel bites lightly with water and then roll in cinnamon sugar. Transfer to plate and enjoy.

Let’s Make It:

We made these pretzels once and they my daughter was begging to make them again so we ran up to the grocery store and picked up another kit. She and her best friend spent last night making a salted version and a version that they iced with cake icing. I loved seeing them have so much fun in the kitchen.
