Howdy! Happy Thursday!
I love Thursdays…not quite as much as Fridays but they are still great. One of my favorite things is getting to feature some of YOU and the awesome stuff you link up at the Pinworthy Projects Party.
Let’s take a look at a few of the things linked up at last week’s party:
The Superbowl is coming! Even if you don’t watch football {like me!}, you will probably be invited to some kind of party. Or, maybe you are a die hard family and host a party!
Either way, I’ve got 10 recipes to make for the Superbowl.
1) Everything is better with bacon right? How about bacon wrapped water chesnuts? Delicious right!
2) Little cups with filled with BBQ chicken. A score for a party for sure.
3) No party is complete without some form of chips and dip. Chipotle black bean dip is a great option for dip.

SURPRISE! I bet you didn’t expect to wake up and find a whole new blog design, did you? We’re still working on a few of the little things so let’s consider this sort of a “soft reveal”. The big celebration will come when it is all completed and ready for prime time. Pardon the dust until then 🙂 {Oh, and a HUGE thank you to Monica from Designer Blogs for all the work she has put in! If you need a new blog design, I highly recommend her!}

Wednesdays are always fun for me! I love doing this feature and it really helps me stay on track with my own weekly menu planning for our household.
Do you do a weekly menu plan? Do you try out recipes featured here? I’d love to hear all about it!
Sunday: The colder weather has me craving lots of comfort food. Pot au feu offers an easy cooking lesson with the reward of a hearty winter meal.
Monday: Soups are another food I turn to frequently during the winter. They are filling and {generally} offer a lot of nutrition for little calories. This winter minestrone was added to my list the moment I saw it.
Tuesday: Did you eat your black eyed peas on New Year’s Day? If not, we’ve got you covered this week with black eyed pea and sausage stew.
Wednesday: Nothing says comfort like a grilled cheese. Throw in some caramelized onions and bbq pork and you’ve upgraded a basic sandwich to a delight!

One of my personal goals this year is to become healthier. This includes eating out less and focusing more on healthy, home cooked meals.
There are a few ingredients that, when kept on hand in the pantry, can make this goal a lot less easier. One of those items is canned tomatoes.
When I was in the store the other day, I noticed that Classico {makers of the yummy pasta sauce} has started making canned tomatoes too! They can be found at Walmart and 100% fresh…free from preservatives too! You can get even more details on these new canned tomatoes by visiting the Classico Canned Tomatoes website.
From crushed tomatoes to tomato puree to whole peeled pear tomatoes, there was a great selection to choose from. I picked up the whole peeled tomatoes to make a family favorite: chicken curry with chickpeas.

I have a tradition: Each year for my birthday, I take the day off and spend it doing pretty much anything I want. For the blog, I try to take the whole week off and instead have the blog feature you guys!
It is like an awesome birthday present to me {time off!} that also benefits my readers and fellow bloggers by exposing everyone to new content from some super creative minds.
Starting today, I am scheduling guest bloggers for the week of 4-8 February. I have a minimum of 4 spots open but would love to have as many as 8 bloggers fill in for me while I am gone.
I know a lot of people tend to think that guest posting doesn’t hold much value because you are giving your content away to another blog. BUT, check out this quote from a recent ebook on SEO (thanks Mandy for sharing this with me!):
“It was really hard for me to even think about spending hours and hours creating content that would go up on someone else’s site. Fortunately, I saw the light and it completely revolutionized the results I get. This concept makes complete, logical sense if you think about it. Before your site has traction, incredible work will yield little in terms of results. Amazing work gets little attention and generates zero social sharing or links. Why? Because your blog doesn’t have the traction to generate social sharing or links. You’re losing the game of numbers. If the same work had gone up on a site that had a bigger audience, the impact would have been completely different. I eventually caught on to this and started sending some of my best work as guest posts to other bloggers who had bigger audiences than I did. Sometimes they didn’t want to publish it and sometimes they did. When they did, it had a huge impact. Those of you who buy into this concept the most will have the most success with your SEO efforts.”
Now, obviously, I don’t have the biggest blog out there but I do believe that sharing content with other blogs {even if they are of similar or smaller size} has a great benefit! It reaches a whole new audience and also helps build relationships with fellow bloggers.

This past Christmas, H really got into counting down to the “big” day via our Advent Calendar. So, I decided to make a Valentine’s countdown calendar this year.
