Ten Minute Easy Glazed Nut Mix

November 8, 2016 By Shannah Coe 2 Comments

One of our favorite things about fall is going to the local fall festivals. From kettle corn to candied apples, it is just so much fun enjoying all the delicious food in between hay rides and corn mazes. One of my favorites is the glazed nut mix you can get at all of the fall festivals. Of course, I had to come home and make my own so we can continue to enjoy the tastes of fall at home. {Psst…this makes an AWESOME homemade gift idea too and the holidays are coming fast!}

Glazed Nut Mix

For my glazed nut mix, I replaced the standard sugar with Whole Earth Sweetener Co. Baking Blend. If you aren’t concerned about lowering the calories, you can easily replace this with regular sugar. Although, I made a bunch of this nut mix and gave it as gifts and no one could guess that it wasn’t made with regular sugar!

Ingredients for Glazed Nut Mix:

1 cup walnut halves
1 cup pecan halves
1/4 cup dried cherries
3/4 cup Whole Earth Sweetener Baking Blend
3 Tbsp butter

Let’s Make It:

1. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.

2. Melt butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add sugar and stir to combine. Let cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently.

3. Stir in walnuts and pecans. Stir mixture frequently to prevent burning. Cook for approximately 5 minutes or until sugar is melted and glazes nuts. Stir in cherries.

4. Transfer mixture to prepared baking sheet. Separate nuts right away and let sit for 5-10 minutes or until coating hardens. Enjoy.

I love being able to enjoy my favorite fall treat without having to worry about a huge calorie hit. My family LOVES this glazed nut mix too and never suspects that it is lower in calories per serving than the mix made with regular sugar. What are some of your favorite ways to cut calories on holiday favorites?
