Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons olive oil divided
  • 1 small onion thinly sliced
  • 1 small green bell pepper thinly sliced
  • 1 small red bell pepper thinly sliced (optional)
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 8 oz thinly sliced steak ribeye or sirloin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 ball of pizza dough store-bought or homemade
  • ½ cup provolone cheese shredded or torn
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating.
  • Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté the onions and peppers for 4–5 minutes until soft. Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
4 tablespoons olive oil, 1 small onion, 1 small green bell pepper, 1 small red bell pepper, 1 clove garlic
  • Add the steak to the pan and cook until just browned (about 1–2 minutes). Season with salt and pepper. Remove from heat.
8 oz thinly sliced steak, Salt and pepper
  • On a floured surface, roll or stretch your pizza dough into a 12–14-inch round. Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet or pizza peel if using a stone. Brush lightly with olive oil.
    1 ball of pizza dough
  • Top with provolone, then add the steak and veggie mixture. Finish with shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
½ cup provolone cheese, 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and starting to brown.
  • Slice and serve hot.

Notes

  • Room temp dough = better stretch. If using refrigerated dough, let it rest at room temperature for 30–60 minutes before shaping so it doesn't spring back.
  • Use freshly shredded cheese for better melt and flavor. Pre-shredded cheese often contains anti-caking agents that can affect texture.
  • Blend provolone and mozzarella for that iconic Philly flavor. You could even throw in some white American cheese if you want to go full cheesesteak-style.
  • If baking on a sheet pan, go for the lowest oven rack—you’ll get a crispier bottom.
