Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh ginger minced
  • 2 Tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 Tablespoon sesame oil
  • ¼ cup chopped peanuts
  • 2 green onions thinly sliced

For Serving

  • 1 head butter lettuce or iceberg lettuce leaves separated
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it into crumbles, until browned and fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

  • Add the onion, garlic, and ginger to the skillet. Cook until softened and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.

  • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil.

  • Pour the sauce into the skillet with the beef mixture, stirring to combine. Cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken slightly.
  • Stir in the chopped peanuts green onions, and stir. Remove from heat.

  • Place a spoonful of the beef mixture onto each lettuce leaf.

Notes
