Presents for You and Me

December 13, 2011 By Shannah 9 Comments

So, I’ve been on a decorating kick recently…have you noticed?  Last year, we moved into a much larger house but our decoration collection hasn’t quite grown as much as our available decorating space!  So, I have been slowly adding to my collection and putting more homemade items out than before.
One of my recent projects were a set of Styrofoam trees that I used everyday items to transform into decorations.

For the larger block, I picked up some peppermint candies from the dollar store and used those to cover the Styrofoam.  I purposefully selected the green blocks for this project because I knew some of it might show through.

Using one of the most important tools for the crafting trade, my glue gun, i attached my little starlight mints to all the sides of my cube.

Once they were all dry, I tied a ribbon around it to complete the look of a present.

I was on a date recently with Mathlete and we walked into the Paper Source store.  I immediately fell in love with this little elf wrapping paper.

I picked up a sheet and brought it home to use on one of my other blocks.  This one was pretty straightforward as I just wrapped it like a normal present.  Although, unlike a normal present, I couldn’t just use double sided tape because there was no way it would stick to the foam!

I took my last block and wrapped it in green tissue paper.

Then, I cut some ribbon into equal sized strips.

I hot glued the strips of ribbon all over the square to finish this present.

I put these presents over with some other items I made in my little display cutout…I call it that because I have no idea what else it would be used for.
