Yummy Berry Smoothie: A Monster Drink

June 21, 2013 By Shannah 8 Comments

CB-sponsored-post-white-600By now, I think people all over the world know that I was planning to have knee surgery.  It was my first surgery {that I can remember} so I was pretty focused on making sure I was ready for the surgery and the recovery.  The recovery means lots of down time and not a lot ability to do fun things with my kids.  So, I decided to take the afternoon before my surgery and make it a fun afternoon filled with a monster drink, treats and crafts.

Monsters University comes out this weekend and H has been talking non-stop about wanting to go see it.  Since I won’t be able to take her right when it comes out, I wanted to at least give her a little bit of fun centered around Monsters University.   I took a quick trip to Walmart and picked out a few items from their extensive Monsters University toys, snacks and treats.

Once I got home, I started making one of H’s favorite things: a berry smoothie.
I made this one a monster drink though because I used the Juicy Juice berry blend featuring Monsters University.

You can find a printable version of this smoothie recipe down at the bottom of the post.

Let’s Make It:
1)  Take all of your ingredients and put them in a blender.
2)  Blend until smooth and pour into a cup.
In addition to enjoying this drink as a delicious smoothie, I poured it into popsicle molds to make smoothie popsicles.
I stuck the popsicles into the freezer and set up our little craft on the table.  I found a great Monsters University book that included water color paints.  H loves to paint so I knew it would be perfect.  The book tells the story behind the movie and provides a lot of fun for the kids too with loads of things to paint.
After a little bit of painting, we enjoyed another treat with our monster drink popsicles.

H had a great time painting and enjoying the treats. She is, now, even more excited to see the movie too.  Hopefully, we will be able to see it next weekend so she doesn’t have to wait too long.

Thanks to purchasing Juicy Juice for my smoothie, I can enter the sweepstakes to win a family trip to Pixar Studios and a $5, 000 cash scholarship.  I know H would totally love the trip and I would be excited to have some additional cash to put into H’s college fun so one day she can enjoy a university just like the Monsters.   I am also be following Nestle and Disney Pixar on Twitter to keep up with all the Monsters University excitement.

Are your kids excited to see the Monsters University movie opening on June 21st?  Do you have a favorite flavor of Juicy Juice to give with snacks?
