A Glimpse: Ninth Anniversary Celebration

October 23, 2013 By Shannah Coe 6 Comments

I am thrilled to partner with The Ritz Carlton to share with you some of the great events and features they have to offer.  I received an overnight stay, including meals in exchange for this post.  However, as always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

So, the Mathlete and I have made it to the big 9!  Yeah, I am sure there were some doubters out there but we showed them 😉  Today, is our official 9th wedding anniversary but we celebrated over the weekend with an overnight stay at The Ritz Carlton in Tysons Corner.  We were both excited to get away for a night even if it was only a few towns over.  The location of the Ritz Carlton can’t be beat though because it put me right in the heart of Tysons Corner where I love to shop!

Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly valets and warm fire which was perfect because the weather had definitely turned a little crisp.

We arrived for check-in with some time to spare before our 8pm dinner reservation so we had planned to do some shopping.  We hopped in line to check in {behind 1 other couple} and were immediately offered a glass of champagne while we waited.  You can guess my answer!

Our plans for shopping got a little derailed by two sweet words: club lounge.  I am all about relaxation and enjoying our time when we are away so the club lounge sounded like the perfect option.  We were greeted by the lovely concierge, Shima, who brought us our drinks and went over the hors d’oeuvres for the evening.  We also ran into Micaela and her husband who were also enjoying a little kid free time.

After enjoying our drinks and a few tasty bites, we strolled around Tysons Galleria for a little bit before heading to dinner.  We also managed to get a picture in the lobby before heading up to change for dinner.

I really LOVE wine and trying new ones so I was super excited to try out Entyse Wine Bar inside The Ritz Carlton.  The level of service you expected from The Ritz Carlton extended into our dining experience.  The sommelier helped me choose an amazing red wine to accompany my dinner.  When I inquired, he brought over three for me to sample so he was sure I would have one I really enjoyed.  Their enomatic wine system makes several wines that are typically only available by the {very expensive} bottle available by the glass.  I had a glass of the Plumpjack Cabernet Sauvignon and I was in heaven!  Mathlete said their beer selection was great too 🙂

We finished off our evening by enjoying some live Jazz music from The Christopher Linmann Jazz Ensemble.  They were the perfect end to our romantic dinner.

We fell into our amazingly comfy bed after putting up the Shhh…. sign on the door.  The idea of a quiet wake-up to the morning was gift enough for our anniversary 🙂

Our amazing stay didn’t stop with dinner and uninterrupted sleep though.  The next morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast buffet and coffee before leaving this little oasis in the city.  I love a breakfast buffet because Mathlete can get his waffles and I can have my eggs 🙂

A huge thanks to The Ritz Carlton, Tysons Corner for making our ninth anniversary celebration so wonderful!  Their general manager, Mark Sherwin, definitely oversees a top level staff who go above and beyond to give their guests the highest level of service imaginable.

Looking to take your little getwaway or maybe just grab an evening out?  Be sure to check the calendar of events at The Ritz Carlton, Tysons Corner.
