Essential Tools for Home Cooks

August 13, 2018 By Shannah Coe 7 Comments

I am excited to partner with DMT Sharpening Stones to bring you this post. While this post is sponsored, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

There are a few essential tools that every home cook needs in their kitchen. Be sure to check this list and make sure you have all the essential tools for home cooks so you will always be recipe ready.

If you spend a lot of time in the kitchen, you know there are a few things that just make the time a little better. Whether the kitchen tool helps make the recipe come out better or the process go smoothly, these are a few essential tools that I think every home cook should have.

Essential Kitchen Tools for Home Cooks

Almost every recipe requires measuring tools of some sort. A good supply of liquid measuring cups, dry measuring cups and measuring spoons are essential. Tip: Look for spoons that include the hard to find 1/4 and 1/8 tsp amounts for a great set!

Paring knives are another kitchen must. I always keep a variety of sizes in the kitchen and use them for tons of stuff, from hulling strawberries to removing the seed from avocados.

Larger chopping tasks obviously call for bigger knife. Get a 5 inch and 7 inch chef’s knife or Santoku to make any chopping or cutting task a total breeze.

Every chef will tell you that the most dangerous item in a kitchen is a dull knife. So, the most important kitchen tool are sharpening tools.

DMT offers a variety of amazing sharpening tools to make sure any of your knives are well sharpened and ready for the job. The Diamond Bench Stones,  Diafold® Products,  Diamond Steels™ are perfect for Chef’s Knives, Paring Knives, Carving Knives, Fillet Knives, & Cleaver Blades. The DMT Diamond Steel has a handle that is color coded to the grit the steel provides.

If you have ceramic knives, the only material that can sharpen them is diamond. Be sure to look for DMT Diamond Sharpeners as they feature the most diamond per square inch in the industry and a proprietary process that ensures near-perfect consistency in grit size. Their bench stones are engineered to be the flattest sharpeners on the market which ensures even sharpening every time.

Kitchen scoops may seem like specialty tools but having a variety of types and sizes can really help in a ton of recipes. From a melon baller (perfect for scooping out zucchini to make zucchini boats) to a meatball scoop (also great for dividing up muffin batter), definitely get a few and see how often you use them.

A kitchen stocked with essential tools for home cooks makes every recipe just a little easier to make and can definitely impact the final result. Be sure to stock up on all of the mentioned items and ensure you are using DMT Sharpening Products to keep your knives recipe ready at all times.

Such a nice post! Well sharpened knives are one of the essential items of the kitchen I believe. I recently came across this company online, Angle Pro Sharpener, that has got really amazing tools and gauges for sharpening knife blades, keeping correct sharpening angles in view. Do check it out!

A high quality kitchen knife is the heart of a kitchen. If your knife isn’t well, you can’t cut or slice anything properly as you want.
